Basic Percussion Samples:

Kick

"KICK"- say the letter "B", take off the "ee" and just use the initial attack. force all the air to the front of your lips to create a pop.

Snare

"Glottal Snare"- say the word "ish", then give a tight, non-forced grunt in the back of your throat. add the two together. this is a very relaxed sound, don't force it.

Crash

"Crash"- use "tsh", "ksh", or "psh" and use the t, k, or p as the attack (stick) and then the "sh" as the (ring). you want to let your "sh" hang over a bit, but fade off quickly at the end.

Hi - Hat

"Hi-Hat"- say the letter "T" and like the kick, take off the "ee" and just say the consonant. add a short "s" to give it length..."ts"

Rim - Shot

"Rim-Shot"- say the letter "K". like the kick and hi-hat, take off the "aa" and just say the initial attack. now add an "aw" to get "KAW". this can be done on an inhale or an exhale.
coming soon!
Scratch

"Scratch"- whisper the word "kiwi", now try doing "kish-wish" with the back of your mouth closed off and all of the air forced through the teeth. alternate letters and inhaling and exhaling
